The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People

BY STEPHEN CONVEY

The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, first published in 1998 written by Stephen Convey. He was an American educator, author, and keynote speaker. Time magazine declared him one of the 25 most influential people.

He changed the thinking of all people when he published his book ” The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”. In a very short period of time, this book became an international bestseller and a resource for people who wanted to improve themselves.

Even after 25 years from its release, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People remains one of the best books in its category. This is the best book by Stephen Convey and has been sold more than 30 million copies worldwide since it was first published in 1998.

Convey introduces the concept of paradigm shift and helps the reader understand that people may have different perspectives. He also talks about the Maturity Continuum, these are three stages of success that increase maturity, dependence, independence, and interdependence.

The first three habits will show the journey from dependence to independence. The first one is, Be Productive – Take responsibility for your reaction to your experience, Try to take initiatives to respond positively and enhance your situation, acknowledge your circle of influence and circle of concern.

The second is, Begin with the end in mind – think about what you want in the future so that you can work for it, learn and analyze decisions made by people. Ask these questions to yourself, who you want to be? what do I want to say about myself? How do you want to be remembered? because these questions will change your life.

The third is, First things first – Prioritize your tasks in a specific order. like, if it’s urgent and important then do it, if it’s not urgent but important then plan for it if it’s urgent but not important then delay that work and if the task is not urgent & not important then eliminate it from the task list.

There are lots of things that Mr. Stephen Convey has discussed self-development but I can’t tell you all the things written in the book. I have already discussed that will make you realize how special this book is. I have read this book and I can clearly tell you that now my way of doing things has been changed compared to my older version. I suggest that you must read this book because if you not then you are going to miss a lot of things.

Here are some more influential books by Stephen Convey, First Things First, Principle-Centered Leadership, Predictable Results in Unpredictable Time, Style Guide for Business and Technical Communication, A Time Conscious Life, Discover Your Inner Strength, etc.
